Has anyone ever treated you as if you were beneath them? I think this is something that has happened to everyone, I know it is something that has happened to me. It hurts. Maybe for some of you it was in your personal life, for others maybe it was through your job, no matter where this has occurred it’s still hard no matter what.
Though it may be hard, it brings an important lesson: that no one is above another and no one is beneath another. Wherever I am, whoever I am dealing with I always remember the pain I felt when someone treated me as though I was less than them, therefore I try my best to remember that feeling and make sure I make no one I encounter feels that way.
In society there tends to be a hierarchy, a pyramid, of people that are above others and people that are beneath others. The great thing about God is, there is no pyramid in his eyes, there is no favoritism, there are no inequalities in his eyes. He does not care what your career is, he does not care what you look life, he does not care what nationality you are, he does not care about what social class you are in, he does not care about any of that. And at the end of the day, when everything is said in done, it is his opinion of you that matters more than anyone else’s. For I am above no one and no one is above me.
Here are some of my favorite bible verses about equality:
“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited”-Romans 12:16
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ”-Philippians 3:20
“But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”-Mark 10: 31
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves”-Philippians 2:3
